Build and Quality
The camera is not the best quality action camera out there. But it holds well for its price. The built is pretty rigid, and it looks like it can take a few hits. The gear is of average quality, but I wouldn’t be too scared of dropping them.
The camera is packed similar to a GoPro. If you saw the boxes lying around, I wouldn’t be surprised if you mistake this one for a GoPro.
The action camera can survive harsh weather and underwater shots.
The camera performs astonishingly well in low light. The videos were up to the mark given its price. While shooting in 4k you get the only option of 25fps. Some other action cameras around this budget do offer 4k 30ps. But that’s not a huge difference if you ask me.
Here are the various shooting modes available:
Videos look pretty good in well-lit conditions, but just like most action cameras, it sucks at low light. This is partly due to the small sensor that doesn’t capture enough light. Everything is sharp and colors are natural. Some blurriness can be spotted here and there but that is no surprise for a budget action camera. The image tones are good.
Photos are taken in 12MP. Photos look pretty decent and just like the video it struggles in low light.
Apart from photos and videos it also takes time-lapse and burst mode which might come in handy when you wanna do some creative shots.
Sample Footage with comparison:
Action cameras are not famous for their battery lives. Akaso EK7000 is no different. It is packed with an extra battery. The camera gives about 45-60 minutes of juice. You can also carry around extra batteries to pack an extra punch. You can also buy spare batteries for the EK7000.
The batteries are 1050mAh and the set comes with a charger that can simultaneously charge both of them at the same time.
You can pair up your device with your Android or iPhone with the AKASO app, in which you’ll be able to change settings, view footage, etc. You can also control the camera with a remote controller included in the package. The controller is very simple to use and has only 2 buttons – One to start video recording and the other one to take a picture.
Pros and Cons
For $70, the AKASO EK7000 is a steal deal. Not only that it’s a decent camera but the accessories that pack with it make it pure gold. It contains a remote control, which very less action cameras pack with. It is also the number 1 selling action camera on amazon. If you ask me to suggest a camera below $100, I would look no further. This is a jackpot. A very nice camera for a very reasonable price. Check Price on Amazon
